Atlas International Film announced the first sales on Sven Huybrechts’ action-packed feature debut U-235. The film has been sold to distributors in France, Germany, Japan and Korea. Released in Flanders last week, the film has already passed the 50,000-admission mark.
Following its screening at CONNeXT, U-235 is to receive its AFM premiere on Thursday 7 November (Arclight 7, 1PM). On the eve of that screening, Atlas will announce the first deals: rights to both French- and German-speaking territories went to Wild Bunch, while Presidio acquired the film for Japan and Joy N for Korea.
Set in World War II, a gang of rebels tough as nails, terrorising the Nazi’s in the woods of Flanders, get a dangerous, secret mission: travel to the Belgian Congo to embark on a stolen German U-Boat carrying an extremely important cargo to the US… Huybrechts co-wrote the screenplay with Johan Horemans.
The film stars Koen De Bouw (Memory of a Killer), Ella-June Henrard (Bo), Joren Seldeslachts, Gilles De Schryver, Bert Haelvoet, Stefan Perceval, Sven De Ridder, Robrecht Vanden Thoren and Vic De Wachter. Hannes De Maeyer composed the original score while Robrecht Heyvaert, Danny Elsen and Kobe Van Steenberghe shared the film’s principal photography.
Producers are Hendrik Verthé and Kobe Van Steenberghe, who were previously also responsible for Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah’s Gangsta. Local distributor Independent Films released the film as Torpedo.
